L3 Modern Team Leader Apprenticeship
Delivered in-person over 16-18 months via 38 x half-day training sessions, this programme is designed for existing and/or aspiring team leaders. This programme recognises the need for management skills such as allocating work, setting targets & maintaining performance, but it also seeks to develop leadership skills of developing and improving staff. Learners will achieve the Level 3 Improvement Technician Standard. The ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership & Management Skills will be embedded on-programme.
Description
This programme is for those who are responsible for managing a team and leading the delivery and coaching of an improvement activity e.g. Improving the skill set of their team, reducing invoice processing time, reducing packaging costs, removal of minor non-conformances, reducing waste & scrap material, improving the quality performance of a product/service etc..
They can be found across all industry sectors and functions including manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, automotive, food products, IT, property, retail, telecoms Local and County Councils, Pharmaceuticals, banking, Insurance, Hospitality etc.
Who Should Attend?
There are a variety of job titles associated with the occupation, these include, but are not limited to: Business Improvement Coordinator, Continuous Improvement Executive, Process Technician, Operational Excellence/Lean Engineer, Lean Six Sigma Yellow belt and Quality Control Analyst, Environmental Compliance Technician, Environmental Construction Oversight, Environmental Health and Safety Inspector, and Transportation Planner.
Green job titles: Transportation sustainability improvement planner, Environmental improvement compliance technician and Environmental improvement health and safety inspector

Course outline
Our Modern Team Leader programme has been designed to meet the Improvement Technician apprenticeship standard with learners able to also achieve an ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership & Management Skills while on programme (free of charge).
Each training session has been carefully designed to adopt an accelerated learning approach and is split into 4 core phases:
- Leadership & Management Skills i.e. Self-Awareness, Management of Self, Leading People, Teamworking, Performance Management, Motivation, Delegation, Communication and Coaching.
- Continuous Improvement Skills i.e. Lean and Six Sigma skills (Using the DMAIC methodology)
- Project Management principles (including stakeholder management)
- Change Management principles (Including relationship management)
Learners will be supported throughout the programme with regular 1-2-1 reviews to ensure they stay on track and appropriate support provided.

Assessment
End Point Assessment takes place on completion of the apprenticeship programme of learning. It is a comprehensive holistic assessment of skills and knowledge against the whole apprenticeship standard involving:
- Multiple choice exam testing knowledge (10%)
- Project report, presentation and Q&A (60%)
- Professional discussion underpinned by portfolio of evidence (30%)
