Motivation Skills

This course is delivered over 1 half-day session at our training centre in Twigworth. Good leadership demands good people-motivation skills and the use of inspirational techniques. Motivational methods are wide-ranging, from inspirational quotes and poems, to team building games and activities, as ice-breakers, warm-ups and exercises for conferences, workshops, meetings and events, which in themselves can often be helpful for staff motivation too. And motivated people perform much better!

Description

Course outline:

  • Understand the factors that influence motivation levels in the workplace
  • Understand how a theory of motivation can be used to improve performance levels

Who Should Attend?

This course is for anyone who wants more time, less stress, improved organisation skills and greater confidence when managing others.   The course is pitched at level 3 because it’s a fundamental people management skill, however, its application is at all levels.

Why Should You Attend?

A supervisor today needs to be skilled in many areas. They need to be able to communicate in several different ways and at various levels, depending on whether they are managing the performance of their team, meeting customer requirements, dealing with suppliers or briefing their manager.

And it’s not just communications skills they need; supervisors have to be good at planning, organising, monitoring and controlling; being able to motivate one minute and discipline the next; they need to delegate tasks to others, provide guidance, training, coaching and support; they have to deal with change situations, manage conflict and be ever mindful of health and safety.

Supervisors work on their own initiative, they solve problems and make decisions, yet they must remain part of a wider team.

Assessment

For those seeking recognition for their learning, this course is based on the ILM unit: Understanding How To Motivate to Improve Performance. Successful completion of the assignment will result in the achievement in 2 credits at Level 3.

Progression

For those seeking to achieve a qualification at Level 3, you will need to achieve a further 2 credits for the ILM Award or 11 credits for the ILM Certificate.
